Latest release - Standing Stones

Steve's first solo album for 10 years. Standing Stones is a collection of personal songs originally 'just-written-for himself'. These are listening songs written to be played as someone might tell a story - late at night by a flickering fire as the cold wind rattles the shutters. Or lying by a lake in August. Or driving along a winding road. There are songs about his mother's evacuation to the Northumberland moors, the passing of an old friend, his love for the overlooked spirit of England, ghosts by a river, a vagabond journey through the Maghreb, the troubled memories of an old general, and a day by the sea is partly a homage to the contemporary folk songwriters who inspired him to start writing and playing many years ago.

"Steve writes the most amazing stories and what is astonishing is how he turns them into songs. His observational writing is probably the best there is." Simon Birds, Country Music UK.

“Steve earns the title of ‘Songsmith’. He has a feel for melody and mood and a knack of matching or contrasting words with the music... a mixture of ideas and styles that any aspiring songwriter should hear.”  RnR Magazine
