"He is a storyteller, a conversationalist, a searcher for wisdom – and always looking for a good joke. Recently, he has returned to the core of what really matters to him: his music and his writing."

About Steve Bonham and the Long Road

The Long RoadAnglo-Americana – it’s a swampy brew of styles mixed from both sides of the ocean, appealing to the vagabond lurking inside men, women and children of all ages.  Steve’s powerful singing and playing, along with his compadres Chris ‘the Bishop’ Lydon on tuba, piano and cajon, and John (on-the-fiddle) Humphreys on banjo, violin and melodeon just seems to communicate with everyone whatever their declared musical taste. High energy, compelling the live sound mixes in a rootsy Americana feel to songs from recent albums: Songsmith, The Moon’s High Tide, songs from the new album The Murmuring of Thieves, like Riding the Road, London Midnight Talking and The State I’m In (The Mermaid Song) as well as classics from Steve Earle, Van Zandt etc, and an eclectic bunch of what Steve calls ‘bar room classics!’

Steve BonhamSteve Bonham

Wide brimmed hat. Long dark coat. Guitar slung on back. 21 years on the road. A 100,000 miles and half a thousand hotel rooms. From the Berlin Wall to Atlas Mountains, from Sahara Desert to the streets of Hong Kong: a memory brewed in the long simmering soup of people and place. A man who has learned to watch and to listen, to walk and talk in the ebb and flow of meeting and parting. He is a chronicler of the human spirit in words and music. In 2013, after 15 years away from acoustic music he returned and released the well-received ‘Moon’s High Tide’ album. With his follow up “Songsmith”, Steve was acclaimed as “a distinctive voice producing a body of songs which challenge, intrigue and beguile.”  Now working on new material all the time, he is on the road again delighting audiences all over the country.

Chris LydonChris ‘The Bishop’ Lydon

Chris is the real deal, the rockiest, bluesy-ist, swampiest piano player you are ever likely to hear and on top of that he makes that tuba just sound like it’s always been there. He also keeps the band to the beat at the same time with his cajon.

John HumphreysJohn ‘on-the-fiddle’ Humphreys

John with a lifetime of gigging and playing both in the UK and the US brings some fire and magic on the banjo, fiddle and melodeon. A cool dude – don’t play cards with this man!
